And now comes SMX Convention Center, which undoubtedly is the biggest convention and exhibition structure ever built in the country, With floor area of more than 46,000 square meters and standing three storeys high, SMX is an imposing monolith of steel and glass structure inside Mall of Asia Complex, the 60-hectare one stop, self-contained community project by the SM Investments Corporation.

SMX is a private sector initiated project that aims to promote the country as a destination for International convention and exhibitions, With SMX now being an integral part of the whole Mall of Asia Complex, this ambitious development on the coast of Manila Bay has now become a definitive showcase of the countrys appeal as a regional hub for tourism and business conferences.

According to Dexter Deyto the Senior Assistant Vice-President of SMX, the Philippines is now a destination for meetings, incentives, conventions and exhibitions because now it has world-class business facilities like the SMX, The country also has a globally oriented society, a predominantly English-speaking population, and hospitable and friendly people that make this country suitable to hold international conventions.

"For a very long time people have been waiting for a big, new and a world-class venue for exhibitions and conventions to be established, And now SMX has finally arrived," says Deyto, "And its ready to put the country in the world map of preferred destination for exhibitions."

SMX facility consists of open exhibition areas, multifunctional halls and flexible function rooms suitable for large-scale trade events, major medical and other industry conventions and corporate functions imaginable. It offers facilities for all kinds of events--from hi-tech interactive trade shows, expositions, concerts to exhibits and receptions. The logistical and personal support it offers is at par with the best in the world.

FOR EXHIBITIONS, EXPOSITIONS, AND TRADE SHOWS

On the ground floor are four Exhibit Halls occupying total floor space of 9,130 square meters, with nine-meter high ceiling space allowing for flexibility in installing multi-level booth modules. Halls can be combined to make bigger spaces to accommodate various equipment and machineries.  The exhibit area floors can accommodate loads of up to 250 lbs per square foot.

Exhibit areas are provided with standby, Wi-Fi connectivity, telephone lines, water supply, service access escalators and elevators. The ground floor lobby can also be used as exhibit area or for pre-function purposes. As a point of advantage and benefit for clients, SMX offers concierge service to assist guests with information for hotel booking and flight confirmation, parking as well as restaurant reservations.

FOR CONVENTIONS, MEETINGS AND ANY EVENT

FOR THAT MATTER

Located on the third floor is the Convention Center, where rooms and floor areas can be adjusted to suit the needs and capacity of any type of event, from a small board meeting, large convention, to a grand banquet, cultural show or concert.

The five function rooms can be combined so that the area can seat anywhere from 500 to 4,100 guests. The ten meeting rooms can also be combined to accommodate small meetings of 10 people to 200 people for a seminar function. The Theater Room is particularly configured for special functions that require elevated seating arrangements.

SMX has partnered with a number of respected companies like hotels, caterers, audio-visual equipment and service providers, freight forwarders, exhibit and booth suppliers to provide exhibitors and convention people a worry-free arrangement of their events.
